Chicken In The Basket, or The Basket, as some call it, in Connelly Springs is closing.

Melea Wilson made a post on Facebook that her mother and father, Dwayne and Sandra Wilson, are retiring. She said Nov. 21 will be the last day for the restaurant.

The post said the couple have had the restaurant, located at 1413 U.S. Hwy. 70, Connelly Springs, for nearly 30 years.

“I have many memories here as a child & through out my entire life, but I am super happy for my parents to officially ‘retire,’” she said. “We love you Sandra & Dwayne (Mom & Dad)!”

The couple bought the property in July 1996 from Boyd and Eva Wilson, according to Burke County land records. Boyd and Eva Wilson purchased the property in April 1971, records show.

The 1,600-square-foot restaurant was built in 1940, county land records say.
