A traffic violation led to drug charges for three Burke County residents Wednesday, Oct. 22.
Bradley Neil Holt, 36, of Connelly Springs, was charged with felony trafficking methamphetamine.
Theresa Elaine Bryant, 31, of ¶®É«µÛ, and Rachel Caroline Franklin, 30, of ¶®É«µÛ, both were charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a release from the Burke County Sheriff’s Office.
The arrests happened after a Burke County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped a gray GMC Yukon for a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle was Franklin, and the passengers were Holt and Bryant, the release said.
Deputies requested assistance from a North Carolina Department of Adult Correction K-9 unit. The K-9 smelled the exterior of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of narcotics. After a search, deputies found about 135 grams of methamphetamine and various items of drug paraphernalia, the release said.
The three were taken to the Burke County Magistrate’s Office, where Franklin and Bryant each received a $25,000 secured bonds, and Holt received a $100,000 secured bond.
All had their first court appearance on Thursday, and received continuances to Nov. 13, the release said.
