Detroit Tigers pitcher Tarik Skubal captured the American League Cy Young award for the second straight season. Skubal received 26 of the 30 first-place votes to finish ahead of the Boston Red Sox’s Garrett Crochet and the Houston Astros’ Hunter Brown. The 28-year-old finished the season 13-6, while clocking a 2.21 ERA and 241 strikeouts in 195-and-a-third innings, while leading pitchers with a 32.2% strikeout rate. In the National League, Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes was named the Cy Young award winner, receiving all 30 first-place votes in the process. Skenes, last year’s NL Rookie of the Year, becomes only the fifth pitcher to win the Cy Young award in his first or second season. The 23-year-old finished 2025 10-10 with a 1.97 ERA and 216 strikeouts in 187-and-two-thirds innings for the Pirates, while leading NL pitchers in ERA.
