A Granite Falls man was charged with misdemeanor littering after more than 200 pounds of dumped garbage was collected from a location along Dogwood Vista.
Dustin Troy Glazebrook, 25, is charged with misdemeanor littering, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office said.
The sheriff’s office was investigating reports of illegal dumping on July 22. The deputies located a white Dodge Dakota matching the description and registration of a vehicle belonging to Glazebrook, the sheriff’s office said.
“The vehicle was observed multiple times traveling from the Granite Falls area toward Dogwood Vista with a truck bed full of trash and later seen leaving the area with an empty truck bed,” the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies found a large quantity of litter matching what was seen in the bed of the pickup truck along Dogwood Vista. The litter was collected and weighed 240 pounds, the sheriff’s office said.
“The cost to legally dispose of the trash at the landfill was calculated at $10.27,” the sheriff’s office said.
Glazebrook was issued a criminal summons on Monday. Glazebrook is scheduled to appear in Burke County District Court on Sept. 22, the sheriff’s office said.
“This has been an ongoing problem in the area of Dogwood Vista,” the sheriff’s office said. “There have been numerous neighborhood complaints about trash being dumped in the area.”
Glazebrook is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
