Two men are accused of stealing items from a construction site in Rhodhiss.

David Glen Roberts Jr., 36, of Hickory, and Johnny Shane Biles, 51, of Rhodhiss, were both charged with felony larceny after breaking and entering, felony possession of stolen goods and property and felony breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, according to the Burke County Sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office said the arrests came after it received a report on Aug. 18 of a breaking and entering at a construction site at 300 Burke St., Rhodhiss, which is next to the town hall.
A representative from the construction company reported that enclosed equipment trailers had been broken into, with about $10,400 worth of tools and equipment stolen, the sheriff’s office said in a release.
During the investigation, detectives identified a possible suspect vehicle, a white SUV. Detectives recognized the vehicle from a prior case and were able to locate it at 201 Magnolia St. in Rhodhiss. Burke County detectives contacted the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office for assistance, the release said.
Detectives went to the location and executed a search warrant. During the search, investigators found about $8,480 worth of stolen property, which was returned to the victim, the release said.
Both men had their initial appearance in court and were given a bond of $10,000 each. Both men have court dates in Burke County set for Sept. 11.
Biles is also facing charges in Catawba County of felony habitual felon, three counts of felony breaking and entering, felony possession of burglary tools, receiving lost or misdelivered card, felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
The Burke County Sheriff’s Office said the thefts in Rhodhiss are still an active investigation, and additional arrests are possible.
