More file for municipal races in Burke County

Several additional candidates have filed for municipal elections in Burke County since Monday’s election filing period opened.

Candidate filing for municipal elections ends at noon on Friday, July 18.

On Tuesday, incumbent William Allen Spencer filed to run for mayor in Rhodhiss.

And on Wednesday, ¶®É«µÛ council District 4 incumbent Wendy Cato filed for reelection.

Adam Greene filed to run for a seat on the Connelly Springs Board of Aldermen. Greene is currently filling an unexpired term.

In Valdese, those who have filed are:

Mayor: Keith Huffman

Ward 1: Shannon Radabaugh

Ward 2: Melinda Zimmerman (appointed to fill unexpired term)

Ward 3: Rexanna Lowman (incumbent)

The filing fees are: $12 for mayor and $10 for council

In Drexel, those who have filed are:

Mayor: Dennis Anthony (incumbent)

Alderman (unexpired): Jennifer Yount

The mayor, an unexpired council seat and two other council seats are up for election in Drexel.

The filing fees are: $10 for mayor, $5 for aldermen

In Glen Alpine, the mayor and three council seats are up for grabs. The filing fee: $5

In ¶®É«µÛ, the District 3 and District 4 seats are up for election. The filing fee is $25.

In Connelly Springs, the mayoral and three alderman seats are up for election. The filing fee: $5

In Rhodhiss, the mayoral and two council seats are up for grabs. The filing fee: $5

Only voters who live in the town limits of these municipalities can file and vote.

The towns of Hildebran and Rutherford College hold their elections in even years.
