Edna Beatrice Bandy, 97, of ¶®É«µÛ, NC, reunited with her family in Heaven on Sunday, August 10, 2025, after a period of declining health.
Born in Burke County, NC, on May 10, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Louis W. Whisenant and Ollie Lee Orders Whisenant. Edna was a member of Calvin Heights Baptist Church. She was a strong, independent, and tenacious woman and a wonderful caregiver to her entire family. She worked until she was 70 years old to provide for her family. Edna loved to cook and sew, and she loved to work in her flowers.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she is survived by her grandchildren, Kim Bandy Arnett (Jamie) and Michael Allen Bandy, II; great-grandchildren, Trevor Allen Arnett, Lathan Coy Arnett, Brayden Michael Bandy, and Tyler David Bandy; daughter-in-law, Linda Bandy; nephew, Tom Whisenant; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Roy William Bandy; sons, Larry William Bandy and Michael Allen Bandy; and siblings, Huldia Williams, Rose Mae Beach, Iverson "Bud" Whisenant, Lenoir Whisenant, Clowd Whisenant, Theodore Whisenant, Robert "Bob" Whisenant, and Earl Whisenant.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Friday, August 15, 2025, at Sossoman Funeral Home. The graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Burke Memorial Park with Rev. David Orders officiating.
