A building in downtown ɫ that has long been vacant could be getting a new life and look.
The building at 200 W. Union St. was once the home of Kimbrell’s Furniture. The building is at the corner of West Union and King streets across from The Grind Cafe.
The building sits on .38 acres and is owned by Erwin Development Company LLC, according to county land records.
The space is listed available for lease for restaurant space with Collett commercial real estate company. The listing says the 7,000-square-foot space could be divided into two restaurants, with the potential for outdoor seating. The listing says the space offers “flexible sizing options, making it ideal for a variety of concepts — from fast casual to full-service dining.”

The listing shows the front of the building as a restaurant and courtyard area, with the back portion as a reserved area. The total space available is 10,500 square feet, the listing says.
The listing says the building has modern renovations and a refreshed façade.
Eric Engstrom with Collett commercial real estate said basic renovations to the property will begin soon, with additional updates tailored to meet the needs of each incoming tenant.
“We’re seeing a great amount of interest so far, which is very exciting,” Engstrom said.
Ginny (Erwin) Bennett, a managing member of Erwin Development Company LLC, said deals can take months and sometimes years.
