One of the smallest crowds of the season at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, got its money’s worth June 28.
The night opened with a brawl between two racing families following a Street Stock finish that fans likely will be discussing the rest of the season. To the delight of around 8,000 fans, there was plenty of good racing, as well. Thanks to threatening skies and the NASCAR Cup race that was running at the same time in Atlanta, there wasn’t the usual full house.
That hardly mattered.

Head flagman Randy Smith tries to break up a fight between Kylar Staley and another man after Brad Lewis edged out Staley at the finish line in the Street Stock Series race on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Bowman Gray Stadium.
In the Street Stock 20-lap race, Brad Lewis banged past Kyler Staley in a wild finish. Race officials said Staley, who was leading most of the way, got passed at the finish line. Staley saw things differently.
On the final lap, Lewis and Staley were battling. Staley’s father, Zack, who had a slower car, was just in front as the drivers neared the finish line.

Lewis said he saw the gap created by the slower car and took the lead just as he crossed the finish line inches in front of Kyler Staley.

Track crew chief Jimmy Brown pins Kyler Staley to the ground following the Street Stock Series race on June 28 at Bowman Gray Stadium. Staley was suspended for three weeks.
When the race was over, however, the Staley family and the Lewis family, including Brad’s daughter Emilee who was also in the race, had words. This led to a fracas that turned physical, and the police had to restore order.
At one point, Zack Staley hurled himself into the windshield of Emilee Lewis’ car and started pulling on the hood of her car. Zack Staley was wrestled to the ground.
Police had to separate the families and at one point Jimmy Brown, the track supervisor, had to hold off Kyler Staley by pinning him to the ground.
“This is a big win for my family,” Lewis said.
Bowman Gray Stadium had around 8,000 on hand for Saturday's races
The most dominant performance of the night was turned in by Zack Clifton in the Red Oak Brewery 100-lapper in the Sportsman Division. He led 99 of 100 laps and as the race wore on, he gained speed and was never really threatened.
“How about that?” Clifton said about the second 100-lap win of his career. “To do it from the poll like that was awesome. The car just dominated, and I’ve never had a better car here than this one.”
Clifton held off plenty of challengers including Dylan Ward, who was second, and Michael Adams who wound up third.

Chris Fleming got back to Victory Lane with a wire-to-wire finish in the first Modified 25-lap race. He won the poll with the fastest qualifying lap and, despite what he says is a broken right hand, picked up his first win since February during The Clash weekend.
He hadn’t won during the regular season race at Bowman Gray since the summer of 2023.
“The car was really good, and I hope the fans got a good show,” Fleming said about his 19th career win. “Burt (Myers) was all over me, but it was just a good night.”
