Burke County is seeking proposals for the first round of funding from the national opioid settlement. This marks a step in the county’s efforts to address substance use and its widespread impacts. The funding opportunity is part of a broader, multiyear strategy.
Local nonprofits, service providers and community organizations are invited to submit proposals for projects that align with Burke County’s priorities and state-approved strategies for opioid remediation.
Burke County is set to receive more than $25 million through 2039 as part of the national opioid settlement. The fiscal year 2025-26 request for proposals represents the first step of the county’s plan to invest the money in strategies that expand treatment access, support recovery, prevent substance use and reduce overdose deaths in Burke County. The county intends to support both new and existing efforts with a long-term vision to build a more comprehensive and sustainable recovery ecosystem.
County leadership emphasized the importance of engaging local partners to ensure the funds are used in ways that reflect the needs and strengths of the Burke County community. The goal is to elevate community-driven solutions and build lasting infrastructure that supports prevention, treatment and recovery for years to come.
Interested applicants must submit their proposals by 2 p.m. on July 11. Awards will be determined based on each project’s alignment with local priorities, community impact and readiness for implementation.
This represents the first funding opportunity. Additional cycles will follow, allowing the county to respond to emerging needs and sustain high-impact efforts over time.
